1st VOLUNTARY BEACH CLEAN-UP DAY #THESURFTOWNCOMMUNITY

THE SURF TOWN, together with the sponsorship of SURFRIDER FUNDATION and the collaboration of the Benalmádena City Council , are going to organize the 1st Voluntary Beach Cleanup Day #Thesurftowncommunity on the beaches of our municipality.

In recent days, when we go surfing we have seen an increase in waste and garbage on our beaches, the rains and storms always drag and reveal the reality on the coast, hence this initiative (nothing new, but necessary)... Individually, each time we go down, we take a bag that ends up filling up with plastics, cigarette butts, cans... and an endless number of items that have nothing to do with the natural setting.

We believe that these activities are necessary to raise public awareness... In fact, many of our friends and clients who also participate in water sports have expressed this to us on more than one occasion.

2020 is proving to be a challenging year, so anything that helps our environment will be for the common good.

We will subsequently send all the collected data to the Surf Rider Foundation, where they will enter it into their database. This contributes to research on marine debris and helps advance legislation.

INFORMATION ABOUT THE ACTIVITY

• We'll depart from Malapesquera Beach in Puerto Marina and head to Playa de las Verdas in Sunset Beach. The day will begin at 10:00 a.m. and end at 1:30 p.m.
• We'll be distributing cleaning supplies, bags, and gloves to those who sign up for the event. However, you're welcome to bring any utensils you might need to help with the cleanup, such as a shovel, rake, or a mini net.
• There will be restrictions, 60 people maximum and groups will be of a maximum of 4 people.
• Masks will be mandatory.
• This is a volunteer-based, educational event to raise awareness about the vital importance of good environmental health. If you're not really interested, don't sign up; leave your spot for someone who is truly interested.
• Municipal authorities have already been notified of the activity.
