Remember the surfer who escaped unharmed from a shark? His name is surely etched in your memory. He was Mick Fanning, and this year he's back in the news, but for something much better: he's once again a surfing champion.

We say it again because, for those of you who already know him, he's a three-time world champion. But his greatest achievement comes from winning the same event in which he was nearly attacked by a shark last year. This year, he's not only proven his worth as a professional surfer, but has also astounded us with his courage and his desire to surpass himself.

Mick Fanning, an example of surfing and courage

The 2016 J-Bay Open in South Africa was the setting for seeing how the incredible Mick Fanning handled his board . He was an example for all of us who love this sport and a challenge that can be the surfer's best ally, but also the worst: the sea and its dangers.

Have any of you had the opportunity to experience this wonderful world championship with Mick Fanning, or any of the 2016 championships ? If so, we're filled with envy… 😉 We hope he continues to achieve many well-deserved victories, because he is a born fighter and an almost unique surfing professional today.

Mick Fanning's victories and unforgettable moments

  • On November 6, 2007, Mick Fanning achieved his first victory , his first world championship on the ASP World Tour.
  • In 2009 he also comfortably defeated rookie Otton and once again became world champion.
  • On July 19, 2015, Fanning was attacked by a large shark while competing in a competition in South Africa, and the competition was suspended.

Long live Mick Fanning and his adventures on the board, long live surfing and its lovers, and we hope that the J-Bay Open continues to take place year after year and continues to surprise us as it has until now.

Good waves!
